The Community of Agios Georgios Sylikou is experiencing a dramatic growth, something which has led the Community Council to construct several infrastructure and beautification works, in addition to planning even more so that the village grows in a qualitative fashion.


Some of these projects are as follows:

COMPLETED PROJECTS

1. Construction of new community buildings which will accommodate the Community Council’s offices and the infirmary.
2. Maintenance, renovation and conversion of the old primary school into a cultural centre and community park.
3. Construction of a footpath at the entrance of the village which will connect the two  streets of the community. There is lighting, as well as greenery areas along the footpath.  
4. Lining of the retaining walls at the entrance of the community with stone.
5. Replacement of the entire water supply network.
6. Construction of a playground following European standards at the forecourt of the church in the centre of the village.
7. Widening of roads within the village so that traffic can be improved.

PLANNED PROJECTS

1. Conversion of the old Commandaria factory into a modern Commandaria museum which will display the making procedure of our traditional alcohol drink.
2. Exploitation of the old water spring area of the village which will be turned into a park and greenery area, as well as construction of stairs which will provide easy access to the park.
3. Application has already been submitted for the leasing of state land so that a regional campsite can be constructed.
4. Expansion of the community cemetery.
